I bought a Silvercrest Car Radio with CD and MP3 player (KH2380) from LIDL a few weeks ago?

However I believe the unit is totally draining my car battery ?the battery had been dead now on three occasions after not driving the car for about 2 to 3 days.

The car is a FIAT Punto sporting MK2 ?6 years old (1999 / 2000 Model).

The first time this happened I changed the original battery for a brand new one (Bosch Silver) which I檇 first charged overnight.

The silvercrest only has 4 pins on it ?I have read somewhere that the wiring for the FIAT Punto was non standard and that you need to swap the yellow and red wires around.

Or just remove the yellow wire totally that supplies power to the unit even when the car is off? I do not mind losing radio presets as I only ever listen to CD / MP3 anyway. My main concern is to always have a car that starts. How do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?Any head unit shouldn't drain the battery as yours does, I think it may be wired incorrectly.

I'd run 2 direct lines from the battery 1 via an inline fuse straight to the head unit power in and one to the earth, link the constant live to the ignition input if you ever do want to save your presets.

Either that or the alternator belt is loose or a bad connection somewhere else. How do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?I have a seicento and the think i found is that you have to turn the stereo off seperately to the ignition - my brother left the stereo on for about 10 hours straight and that killed the battery. I know it will cause you more effort but if you already had a cd player you're better to stick with it. My old car was at risk from giving me a shock because there were wires dangling out of the dash board the previous owner was a boy racer who had fiddled with nearly everything on the dashHow do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?dont think the battery is big enuf to power a radio in a fiat puntoHow do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?Check the wiring, there is a permanently live to keep the coding and should be a seperate Auxiliary feed so it switches off with the ignition, It is staying on all the time. How do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?put more coal on the fireHow do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?if got a fiat and with my radio i have to turn it off seperatlyHow do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?yeah well this could be a few things mate, if you have a sup and amp then its almost 100% gonna be your problem as you run a direct live from the battery which is what was draining my car on me! so i had to take the fuse out of the amp everynight, or if it is just the headunit then maybe the remote or sumthin like that is causing the unit to stay on all the time, i no it sounds silly but why not take it down to your nearst halfords and they will probably be able to pin point it straight away, JUST DONT LET THEM SELL YOU ANYTHING!! lol and what that guy said at the top, it probably has been wired incorrectly....How do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?buy a proper motor for your stereoHow do I stop my new car radio draining the battery on my FIAT Punto Sporting MK2?Have you tried the support page
