like if your cleaning your car with the music on. is that ok? how long can you keep the battery on for?

The car's battery has a lot of charge in it, and is designed mainly for starting the engine but also for little things like running the radio if the engine is off, so you'll be just fine. What you should be careful of, however, is leaving something big like the headlights or heater on for more than an hour or so, because that does draw much more power from the battery and will drain the charge much faster.
