How long does Car Battery lasts?

Is it true that the old type of car battery which need to top up with battery water periodically never needs to be replace?

A friend of mine told me I just have to make sure that I remember to top up the battery water, I can use the same battery for 10 years??

Please enlighten :)How long does Car Battery lasts? The recommended time when to change battery is after 2 years but on the very first car that i had and owned for 7 years the battery lasted 5 years which was really good! so i guess the answer to your question can vary 2-5 years!!How long does Car Battery lasts? That is not true. All batteries wear out. When you start your car that discharges the battery a bit and causes the plates to get a little sulfate on them. Some of the sulfate gets knocked off when the alternator recharges the battery and collects in the bottom of the case. If enough sulfate remains on the plates (over time) the battery can't produce the same amount of amperage and takes longer to recharge. If enough sulfate collects in the bottom, it can short out the battery.

The longest I've had a battery last was 8 years. That was on an old Toyota that started the instant you turned the key and had a good charging system. Plus, I always kept the terminals clean and tight. How long does Car Battery lasts? It's not true that any battery which has access plugs to add distilled water lasts forever. Today's OEM batteries aren't the best. Carefully read the information on the top of any battery. If possible find one that has a label that says: Cold Cranking Amps @ 0 Degrees Farenheit. Find a battery with the most cold cranking amps at 0 degrees and the longest free replacement warranty.

It's true some people get lucky with their standard car batteries. Others crap out within three years. Summer heat scratches the life out of batteries more than Winter weather. Much depends on the condition of your battery cable connections at both ends. A good charging system between 13.5 -14.0 volts from the alternator helps also.

Age tends to build up junk on the plates within the cells. When the stuff breaks loose and drops to the bottom of an individual sell it shorts the cell out killing the battery. How long does Car Battery lasts?I would agree with your friend that the older batteries seem to last a lot longer then todays batteries that come sealed up and you can't check the water in them. Now back to the older batteries, they do last longer ,but after awhile just water wont work ,you have to add new battery acid to them so they don't get a dead cell in them, plus it recharges them all over again. How long does Car Battery lasts? The length of time varies tremendously. most modern batteries are sealed and do not need topping up.

The trouble with modern batteries is that they don't seem to fade away they break completely and you need a new one urgently.

remember the cost of a battery is about the same as a tank of petrol, in Uk anyway. How long does Car Battery lasts?Suggest that the old batteries may have had a greater life span, but eventually all batteries will need to be replaced.Suggest that normal lice span of a battery now is about 6 years and longer. How long does Car Battery lasts? That is not completely true or people would still be using them. With unsealed batteries fresh acid could be added or completely replaced to rejuvenate an old battery. I don't know what the total lifespan of those could be.How long does Car Battery lasts? You can be lucky with a battery and it will last a long time but most batteries life is about 3- 4 yearsHow long does Car Battery lasts?it depends on how often u use ur raido and other electronic features in ur car
