Anyone know how to change the alternator on a 1998 cavalier?

My son's car broke down. The battery is one year old. I didn't even open the hood yet. I just want to know where it is and if there is anything I should be aware of when changing the alternator. ThanksAnyone know how to change the alternator on a 1998 cavalier?V6, Alternator is on back side of passenger side of engine. Remove negative battery cable, Release belt tension at automatic tensioner. Remove upper metal bracket over alternator. this bracket will have 2, 8 mm bolts into alternator. after bracket removed one lower bolt goes through alternator. this bold has a nut on the back side and is difficult to get out. But it can be done. Someone put it in there. you can get it out. After bolt is removed you can rotate the alternator to gain access to electrical connectors.

4 cyl Alternator located passenger side front if engine. Remove negative battery cable, Remove metal bracket from exhaust manifold, remove lower through bolt and rotate alternator to gain access to electrical conectors.Anyone know how to change the alternator on a 1998 cavalier?Routis is right about the location.but to avoid serious damage remove the positive cable from the battery. then when you reconnect wait five minutes before starting. This allows the computer time to reset.Anyone know how to change the alternator on a 1998 cavalier? It is probably on the passenger side of the car near the bottom. Only thing you should be aware of is that there will probably be little room to work to replace it. Might be easiest to get at it from under the car.
