I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?

This came out of nowhere, I haven't had any trouble starting it since I put the battery in. Someone tried to jump my car, but no change. The lights work fine and don't dim when I try to start it. I was told it could be the starter or the solenoid. How do I tell? Thanks in advanceI have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?Listen to hear if it clicks once when you try to start it. If it doesn't, you have a problem with the ignition switch not giving a signal to engage the solenoid. If it does click once, you more likely have a solenoid or starter problem. If it were to click multiple times that would be a battery low on charge, possibly due to a bad alternator, but given your description, that doesn't sound like the case. Especially given that it won't start with a jump, and your lights are staying bright.I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?i'd say it's the starter, try hitting it with a pipe or something that reaches it then try to start it againI have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?Take any kind of tool, like a hammer, and whack the Starter a couple of times. Sometimes they get rusty and the Brushes do not Catch. If this works, you will need to replace the starter before too long. One day just Banging on it will not work.I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?Well in your case it is definately a starter issue, You might want to check the simple things first like the fuses and relays to the ignition system, however, if there is nothing wrong there, you can test the sylenoid by: there are two wires run to it the ignition wire, and the battery wire, the two are on the same end buy opposite sides. Take a regular screw driver with a non-metallic end of course and connect the poles for the ignition and the battery wires. If it starts then your sylenoid is bad, if it doesn't the starter has went out. Good luck.I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?If you don't hear anything when you turn the key you should check your fuses.I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima. Just put a new battery in two weeks ago. Tonight it just wouldn't start. Help!?ITS PROBABLY THE STARTER. IF IT IS THE SOLENOID, UNFORTUNATLY THE SOLENOID ISNT SERVICEABLE, ITS ALL ONE PART. SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET A HOLE NEW STARTER ASSEMBLY. TRY REACHING THE STARTER WITH A SCREW DRIVER AND TAPPING IT WITH A HAMMER WHILE SOMEONE TURNS THE KEY TO START IT. TAKE IT TO PEPBOYS THEY DO A CHARGE/START ANALYSIS FOR 19.99. IT CHECKS THE STARTER AND ALTERNATOR.
