How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid?

Could someone please write me some good instructions for changing the battery on a 2001 Dodge Intrepid so it doesn't turn into a 5 hour job. Thank you.How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid? With the Intrepid, the battery is in a compartment inside the wheel well. The car need to be jacked up, and supported on jack stands (never work on a car just supported by a jack, if the jack slips you can be injured or killed by the falling car!)

You then must remove the tire. This will give you access to the battery panel cover. Remove the cover, and then take the battery hold down loose. Loosen and remove the battery cables, and slide the battery out.

Reverse the procedure to install the new battery.

This is one of those cars where it may be worthwhile to buy your battery at a place where they install them for free. The slight additional cost that you will pay for the battery at a place like that is well worth it.

It is a lot easier to do this on a lift in a shop! How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid?Get the correct size wrench and remove the red side first , then the black side. Remove the holder / clamp (if there is one attached), yank out the old and put in the new - make sure the new is fully charged. I can do it in 5-10 mins , but you sound like you may need 30 mins. Easy enough? Of course:

Possibility that the battery MAY be under the rear seat - same procedure , just lift the seat to get at it.

Cleaning the terminal connectors at the battery

Having to reprogram your radio and clock.

See? i NOW made it an hour job - nothing is simple. LOL!How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid? You have to take it out through the wheel well on the passenger side. I've been fortunate enough that I haven't had to do that yet, but I'm sure my time is coming. My Intrepid is a 2003 with 125000 miles on it, and the battery is original. Since the battery is hard to get to, buy the best one you can find when you replace it. You don't want to have to do this very often. How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid?the battery is inside the wheel well on that one,if you,ll remove the wheel it makes it real easy to remove, jack it up and remove the cover and then loosen the hold down and then the cables then remove the battery, its real simple if you take the wheel off, that's about the only way you,ll get it out, good luck. How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid? Why do have 2001 Intrepid? How do you change a battery in a 2001 Dodge Intrepid?I just changed mine last night in my 2000 with the 2.7 engine. If you take a screwdriver and loosen the air filter hose you can pull it off easy and gain access to the top of the battery . Pull the whole air cleaner box off. Turn the tires to gain access to the fenderwell cover and remove it. You can remove the hold down bracket from the top. I dont think you can get to it from the well cover. The cables should be long enough to pull it up to remove the clamps. Took me about a half hour. did not need to jack the car up.It was very easy.

How do you know if it's your battery or your car that's messed up?

Turned key, engine turned over for about 1/2 second and stopped. Turned key again--nothing. Even door locks %26amp; windows didn't work. Got a colleague out of office with jumper cables, just about to hook up, turned key again.....in business!

Am thinking battery has short, but I will feel really silly if I change out and car doesn't start again....somebody who knows about this stuff please tell me wassup! thanks...How do you know if it's your battery or your car that's messed up?The electronics class I just took leads me to also believe you have a bad/corroded/ or loose connection somewhere along your starting circuit. A shorted battery would certainly not cause this problem. Easiest thing to do here is clean the battery terminals and both cables,(where they make contact) then try starting it. If you still have the same old problem, chances are the starter has a bad connection. If you have access to a multimeter, this issue can solved in minutes. Good news is, if a bad connection is the problem, its usually free to fix, some cleaning/tightening usually does the trick. FYI: the second most likely cause an open circuit in your starter's armature. This is characterized by an occasional no cranking condition, which suddenly goes away after turning the key enough times. This condition requires buying a new starter unless you feel like rebuilding it. Lot's of information I know, but hopefully it makes enough sense to help u outHow do you know if it's your battery or your car that's messed up?go up to your local orilies or pep boys or auto zone and they can test it for you but it sounds like you have a bad battery to me but always test it first. How do you know if it's your battery or your car that's messed up?Sounds more like a connection problem. Check all battery cable connections...both at the battery and where they hook up to the engine and starter. Look for corrosion, dirt, oil, and loose bolts. How do you know if it's your battery or your car that's messed up?Make sure your battery cables are secure, sounds like there a bad or loose connection on you battery cables. if that's not it then the battery is shot.

How often do you have to recharge or change a car battery?

Batteries usually last 3 to 5 years, though some can go on a good while longer.

The alternator takes care of recharging in most circumstances, although if you have a long spell of combined short journeys, cold weather, parking with lights on etc, without the chance of a decent run, a charge can be useful.

How do i change my car battery?

ok so my battery died and i just bought a new one the problem is i have no idea what size wrench i need or how to change the battery i have a 2005 kia sportage pls helpHow do i change my car battery?ask your boyfriend or your dad to help you. I doubt you'll be able to pick it up, it can weight 40-50lbHow do i change my car battery?I think it is either a 5/16 or 8 mm. They are ususlly easy to change, Remove the ground cable first then the positive red capped one. remove any hold battery hold downs and replace with new one in reverse order. How do i change my car battery?7 or 8mm socket remove leads from terminals remove old battery install new battery and connect leads to battery terminals. red goes to + and black goes to -How do i change my car battery?Remove the negative cable first (red cap) and ground wire. Then remove the positive cable. Get a wire brush and clean the contact points (where they sit on the battery) on the cables. Remove the old battery and clean out the area of any debris. Insert new battery, positve cable and then negative cable and ground wire. If you don't have a socket, use a set of pliers to remove the cables. Way to do it yourself instead of paying some shop! How do i change my car battery? You may want to get some hands-on help from someone that's done this before. The battery is heavy and the old one will have crud and acid residue on it. But you can try. Wear safety glasses and gloves. I'm not familiar with with your Korean buggy but it would be helpful to wire brush and oil any bolt threads on the hold down bracket. A six point wrench or socket is good to use for terminals. It's a small bolt head for a big bolt on side terminal batteries, although you may have top terminals. Make sure nothing is in the way to maneuver the batteries in and out. Be careful and good luck.

How long does Car Battery lasts?

Is it true that the old type of car battery which need to top up with battery water periodically never needs to be replace?

A friend of mine told me I just have to make sure that I remember to top up the battery water, I can use the same battery for 10 years??

Please enlighten :)How long does Car Battery lasts? The recommended time when to change battery is after 2 years but on the very first car that i had and owned for 7 years the battery lasted 5 years which was really good! so i guess the answer to your question can vary 2-5 years!!How long does Car Battery lasts? That is not true. All batteries wear out. When you start your car that discharges the battery a bit and causes the plates to get a little sulfate on them. Some of the sulfate gets knocked off when the alternator recharges the battery and collects in the bottom of the case. If enough sulfate remains on the plates (over time) the battery can't produce the same amount of amperage and takes longer to recharge. If enough sulfate collects in the bottom, it can short out the battery.

The longest I've had a battery last was 8 years. That was on an old Toyota that started the instant you turned the key and had a good charging system. Plus, I always kept the terminals clean and tight. How long does Car Battery lasts? It's not true that any battery which has access plugs to add distilled water lasts forever. Today's OEM batteries aren't the best. Carefully read the information on the top of any battery. If possible find one that has a label that says: Cold Cranking Amps @ 0 Degrees Farenheit. Find a battery with the most cold cranking amps at 0 degrees and the longest free replacement warranty.

It's true some people get lucky with their standard car batteries. Others crap out within three years. Summer heat scratches the life out of batteries more than Winter weather. Much depends on the condition of your battery cable connections at both ends. A good charging system between 13.5 -14.0 volts from the alternator helps also.

Age tends to build up junk on the plates within the cells. When the stuff breaks loose and drops to the bottom of an individual sell it shorts the cell out killing the battery. How long does Car Battery lasts?I would agree with your friend that the older batteries seem to last a lot longer then todays batteries that come sealed up and you can't check the water in them. Now back to the older batteries, they do last longer ,but after awhile just water wont work ,you have to add new battery acid to them so they don't get a dead cell in them, plus it recharges them all over again. How long does Car Battery lasts? The length of time varies tremendously. most modern batteries are sealed and do not need topping up.

The trouble with modern batteries is that they don't seem to fade away they break completely and you need a new one urgently.

remember the cost of a battery is about the same as a tank of petrol, in Uk anyway. How long does Car Battery lasts?Suggest that the old batteries may have had a greater life span, but eventually all batteries will need to be replaced.Suggest that normal lice span of a battery now is about 6 years and longer. How long does Car Battery lasts? That is not completely true or people would still be using them. With unsealed batteries fresh acid could be added or completely replaced to rejuvenate an old battery. I don't know what the total lifespan of those could be.How long does Car Battery lasts? You can be lucky with a battery and it will last a long time but most batteries life is about 3- 4 yearsHow long does Car Battery lasts?it depends on how often u use ur raido and other electronic features in ur car

How long can you safely keep ur car battery on for?

like if your cleaning your car with the music on. is that ok? how long can you keep the battery on for?

thanks in advance

(i have an 09 mazda 3 btw, just incase that changes anything)How long can you safely keep ur car battery on for? It's perfectly fine to wash your car with the music on :)

The car's battery has a lot of charge in it, and is designed mainly for starting the engine but also for little things like running the radio if the engine is off, so you'll be just fine. What you should be careful of, however, is leaving something big like the headlights or heater on for more than an hour or so, because that does draw much more power from the battery and will drain the charge much faster.

With the radio, I'd be surprised if the battery ran low after even as much as 8 to 10 hours of playing because it uses such a small amount of powerHow long can you safely keep ur car battery on for?hous and hours. up to 10 or 12 hoursHow long can you safely keep ur car battery on for?who wants to listen to that crap while someone cleans his car?

just clean it, and quit worrying about hearing the stereo over the vacume cleaner ...god !

Life spam of a car battery and alternator...Please tell me how long is expected...?

I had a flood in my street and that did damage the battery of my car, as well as the alternator. My car is about 4 years of use and the mechanic told me that I was in the right time to change all these, coz sooner or later I will have it damaged by usage as times passes. But the change was due to the flood and now I feel that I should have been more careful about my car and not to park it in the near street while a tropical storm passed and flooded it all and I did pay a big note!Life spam of a car battery and alternator...Please tell me how long is expected...?It's %26quot;life SPAN%26quot;, spam is a type of canned meat. Anyway the battery was probably ready to be changed because four to six years is about the life span of a decent battery. The alternator on the other-hand should probably only be replaced once or maybe twice during the whole life of the car. I'm sure the water had something to do with the alternator failure. This may however not be all the electrical problems your going to experience from this flood damage, especially if the car was started before it was completely dried out. There could be damage to circuit boards, relays, switches, and interior and exterior lighting. I would try to keep it out of the tropical storms especially if you have a lot invested in it. GOOD LUCK!!!Life spam of a car battery and alternator...Please tell me how long is expected...?its 50-50 if you have been driving for 5 years on that Battery, you are lucky car battery's life is between 3-5 years, so that needed to be changed, alternator, that is water damage, but look at it this way there was nothing you could do about it, and you are lucky it just came to that.Life spam of a car battery and alternator...Please tell me how long is expected...?about three to four years on a battery. The alternator should last about ten years, but it was water damaged so it needs to be changed anyway.
